Thanks guys, I guess it's worth a week pass or something to try out. I looked at memberships, and Venice has it's own that can't be used at other locations...and vise-versa. For those of you who live in the area....is there another gym close by that is nice and "bodybuilder friendly"? I think I'll be moving to the Marina del Rey area...so something around there.

Although I noticed the title, I overlooked it in the thread.

I'm moving out to Cali in a few months, and will be living fairly close to Golds. Wondering if anyone here has actually trained there? I'd like to know what the atmosphere is like? Are there a ton if people just there to see the place, and are others just there to be seen, and not to train hard? I know it's a really nice and and huge gym..but is it worth it. I've been lucky, I started my training at Armbrust in Denver, and now I train at Steel Gym in Manhattan most the time. Both of which, are true bodybuilding Gyms. Just wondering if any has been to Golds and can tell me first hand...

You don't mention what part of the millions and millions of square feet of California where you plan to move. All that I can say is that there are Gold's Gyms almost everywhere in Cali. I've been to the one in Victorville, which is now a World Gym, I think. But I've been a member of the North Hollywood Gold's Gym since 2005. If you're into aerobic classes, spin classes, Zumba classes, you might as well look elsewhere. But if you're a hardcore weights gymrat, that's the one for you. Oh sure, there's a part of the gym with bikes, stairmasters, treadmills, and stuff like that. But that's it. I love it which is why I left the World Gym in Burbank (name change since) with lifetime membership for NoHo Gold's.

Not a single powerlifting federation or association etc is performance enhancement free. There are ways around everything and people find them. Also hello Chosen1 good to see you're still around bro. B2J4E that goes for you too. Respectfully,Wake

they got all gyms, planet fitness 24 la. I grew up there i know a danky mexican place right next to anaheim let me know if u want any info

I used to live in Anaheim for a few months and Planet Fitness may be a good choice. The membership is cheap and there's plenty of parking (a must for a good gym).

Go for a GMC truck or SUV. You can't go wrong with a large vehicle loaded with luxury.

I got an 06 Yukon SLE, just one shot below a Daneli/Escalade but with all of the luxury options.

Sadly, I recently quit the team to gather up my finances better. What can I say? Powerlifting is an expensive sport. But it is a 20 year dream for me.

Although I'm no longer on the team, I decided to continue training, as well as work out, at Gold's Gym (a place that I neglected for months while powerlifting training). The equipment is going to be weird to work with but I'll deal with it.

FOR THOSE WHO AREN'T AWARE OF THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POWERLIFTING & BODYBUILDING EQUIPMENT: The powerlifting barbell is about a foot longer and alot thinner in girth, making it easier to grip without gloves.

But as I see it, if I can lift heavier with bodybuilding equipment, powerlifting equipment will only be easier for me.

So my last amateur powerlifting meet was last month (August, 2012) and it was the State Championship. My 1st meet was in March of this year. Little did I know until I participated in the State Championship was that I managed to set a record in two different classes.

Men's Deadlift Only

Men's Masters Deadlift Only

Both with a 180 kg. lift. So for my final lift at the State Championship, I chose to attempt a 500 pound lift because I felt that I could do it. But I felt jinxed when I had noticed most of the younger guys who were lifting more earlier were now failing their lifts at less than 500 pounds. I was just standing there saying to myself, "WTF did I get myself into?" Needless to say, my final lift failed as well. So I thought, "Aw well, I may not have broken my record but at least I set two State records."

A month later, my company screwed up my check so I went to my P.O. box hoping not to find some kind of garnishment that could be the reason why I didn't have a check on time. All was clear as far as that was concerned. But then I found a large envelope with a return address and name that I didn't recognize. When I opened it, it was two certificates from A.P.F certifying my set records. I was like, "COOL". Then there was a 3rd that nearly made me scream like a girl in the post office. I CAME IN 1st PLACE OF THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in my class. It shocked the hell out of me that my once dream is gradually becoming reality for me.:cool:

Also anyone know if thorus is still good to go???

This may or may not be an appropiate place to ask that question and I'm not going to respond directly in regards to it. But I've seen questionable statements made about Thorus on other boards. HOWEVER, I'm aware that he is still up and running. So how true those questionable statements are would be unknown. Therefore, all I can suggest is to DO YOUR RESEARCH, bro. and look around. Personally, I'm not one to write of negative accusations unless there is proof.

Speaking as a former LE, I don't know how to go with this. But here's my input:

Sure, I can perform a great song and dance about "not getting involved" or "violence won't solve anything". But let's face it, we're living in the real world here. I would say to get your homies together and give those guys an entire keg of whoop ass. BUT, it is best to do it when the woman/women aren't home. 9 chances out of 10, they would either get involved an protect those low lifes or call the cops on you all. Then, as usual, the good guys would be the ones in handcuffs.

Don't allow any witnesses. NO! I'm not saying to kill anyone and everyone who sees you. There is a good chance that if neighbors notice you all and figure what happened, they may support you. But there's always that one goody 2 shoes who would call the cops on you. Hell, wear black masks and clothes, if need be.

My gf and I spent most of the morning in bed today, after having a heated argument earlier (around 3 A.M.). Then when we decided to get something for lunch, she went to check the messages on her landline phone only to learn that, after leaving it off of the charger, the phone is dead as a doornail. I kept telling her all night to place her phone on the charger but she insisted on leaving it off.

So this morning, she's explaining to me that if you leave a cordless phone on the charger all night, it will kill the battery. So I looked at her and said, "So you left it off of the charger all night? What's wrong with it now?" She looks at me confused like and then laughed and said, "OH SHUT UP!" ;)

I used to use naps @5 mg./3 times daily. Occassionally, I'd find the 10 mg.

But now I've managed to get my hands on 100 mg. dbol & drol and only use them once a day with awesome results.

I understand that the AAPF (All-American Powerlifting Federation) is drug free.

I can remember a few years ago, AnaMind had a major problem with SPAMMERs taking over. Fortunately, the staff members took control again.

Why is it that everytime drivers see a cop car on the highway, they tend to slow down or drive like "pussies"? Here's a thought, if you're not speeding in the first place, then you won't have to slow down. And whenever you begin driving like a pussy, i.e. stopping at a corner that has no traffic light or stop sign, it only ATTRACTS a cop's attention.

Why do many people stop reading after they've finished high school?

Everyday, I enter the highway entrance and there's a sign that says, "NO TURN ON RED". But beneathe those words, there's "between 7AM to 9AM". It amazes me how so many people will literally sit there and wait for the light to turn green eventhough it's after 9 A.M. Hell, one woman sat there for a long time and it was in the evening. Fortunately, there is another turning lane that allows me to go around the "Literary Retards".

Different opinions for the battle between the Android and the iPhone, I think it matters what your looking for. I had two Samsung Galaxy phones and didn't have a problem with either, my next phone was an IPHONE and it fit me well. Easy to use and the battery is great. IMHO they are all way over priced though.

A little over a year ago, a coworker almost convinced me to get an iPhone. He showed me how awesome it was. But later that day, another coworker told me that the Android was better, especially for downloading videos. So far, I've been happy with the Droids that I've had and have heard a few complaints about the iPhones.

This was is a Samsung but not a Galaxy.

It was weird, I played with the battery after it went out and nothing happened. A couple of hours later, I pulled the battery out again and, for no particular reason, blew the back of the phone. Put it all back together and POOF! It came back on and have been on since.

I don't get it. They've finally created an automobile warranty that last up to 100,000 miles. And tires that inflat themselves.

Why the hell they can't make a cellphone that last longer than a month or two? My cheap Android cellphone got a drop of coffee on it 2 weeks ago and died on me. So I figured that I'll invest another $100 into a Samsung Android and I was loving it. Just as I got to work this morning, I sat in my car and tagged Facebook for a few minutes before punching in. A few hours later, I go to use my phone and what do you know.....IT'S FREAKING DEAD. No, I didn't drop it and it never got wet. It just croaked on me for no reason. Damn, I'm started to wish that I'd bought an Iphone instead.:mad:

Earlier today, this dumba$$ at my job tried to brag on himself. He's already claim to have met an 18 year old hottie on Adult FriendFinder (AFF). Yep, the website for desperate losers to get laid. While having an 18 year old girlfriend to bang is a thrill, being a 46 year old man with one only makes one look like a genuine perv.

So he tells me, "My 18 year old girlfriend told me that she loves to have sex alot because her testestorones are high." I asked him to repeat what he had just said in order for him to correct himself but instead, he repeated exactly what he had said earlier.

As long as it was on good terms and if you left for good reasons (i.e., turned down for promotions, lack of hours, discrimination, moving to another location, etc.), you should have a chance. Back in 1999, I moved from The Big Easy to California and spend months out of work. I was able to file for unemployment comp. from Louisiana.
