    Stick to a caloric deficit and cardio.. then every few weeks, drop a few more calories, up the cardio. Just keep it simple. Nothing happens over night.

  2. you see, many of traditional recommendations don't work for me such as packing the shoulders on the set up before pressing. my gut tells me I was overdoing those retractions and couldn't feel my pecs, plus I used to get nasty pain in the rear part of shoulder(probably teres minor overfiring). spoke to few PT's and chiros(after spending 1000's of $'s) they all tell me same thing... you gotta retract and depress the scap, and strengthen ext. rotators and bla bla….. I am not one of those pencil neck geeks I had good numbers on my lifts 400 range in front squat and etc so don't tell me my core is weak and all those bullshits..

    I will tell you what my symptoms are.. on the bottom of press, I have no stability on my right shopulder, it seems like my humerus gets dislplaced posteriorly on my GH joint. I also been having trouble keeping my sternum high, and as a result my left shoulder has been taking most of the load and have partial tear in long head of bicep. I know how I should feel in the bottom of press..., it should feel lioke my lats and teres are supporting my shoulder complex giving a nice platform to press from. my guess is that I was overdoing retraction and arch making my ''platform'' too narrow to support my shoulder and load. I've had better success with scapula protracted with full contraction of pecs at the top and let the weight move my shoulder naturally back instead of all these ''powrlifting style bench'' with pinning shoulders constantly back. also these cues about ''spreading the bar'' or ''bend the bar'' made things worse. going back to BB style pressing. most big benchers seem to have shit chest development anyway..

     

    hope you don't mind my little rant... I thought maybe you can shed some light as what I can do as you seem very knowledgeable(judging from your physique) and I actually plan on using my prepared set up on hammer styrength today pressing inwards instead of forward.

    I have a tear in my shoulder. I dont know what it is, yet. I see the doc on the 11th to deal with it. I have a knot in my shoulder blade too, that I cant get out and makes everything on chest day, horrible. Probably there because of the tear.

     

    A few things I do prior to benching, (i cannot do flat, like forget it.. if i come down top far, I'm done.) I do a set of pull ups. I warm my shoulders and rear delts up too. I will take a bench, incline on 3, 10lb db, lay on my stomach. I raise the dbs as it's a shoulder raise, swing back, and hit the rear delts (2 sets of 20)

     

    You're probably old enough to, not really have to worry about numbers. Now it should be about physique. Switch to bb style workout would probably be better. You can incorporate both pl and bb there is no right or wrong.

     

    When I am on the HS incline. I have to make sure I am positioned just so. And, I dont even go heavy any more. I litterally cant. So, I just play with speed, reps, TUT, half reps/burn outs. Drop sets.

     

    Are you trying to thicken your chest up? I think pull overs (I've been doing them on the decline bench, and really pulling forward, squeezing hard at the top. Yes my boobs look great from that view), all around the worlds, under grip flies, db flies, and really fukin squeeze. Gotta really work on muscle mind connection... go a few workouts without benching. Give it a break. Focus on other movements.

     

    laura phelps has a video on her IG showing the warm up I described. I'd go dig for it but, I havent been on IG for 2 weeks and i dont want to break my streak.

  3. shoulder injury. can't do full range especially with an arc like hammer strength. my case is a bit unique.

     

    I know what you're talking about. I baby a injury too. I just dont go heavy and once I start feeling it being irritated, it's done. I see a ortho on the 11th for it.

     

    Try floor presses?

    Neutral grip incline db press?

  4. Is there any value in this? Why did they not make it vertical whats the advantage of this? Every gyms I go only has these stupid slanted versions and its making my incline adjustments very confusing as Im trying to get specific angles like 20-25 degrees.

     

    Pull out your calculator and protractor. Gotta get that specific angle.

     

    Why are you even using a Smith? Just use the hammer strength machines.

    Thats why I was so offended. I know shes a good girl and I know it's hard enough for girls who want muscles to deal with pussy boys who dont lift and cant handle a strong chicks, but to come into a gear and weights community and get the same type of shit disrespect and bullshit is fucked up.
